We purchased this dresser from a really nice family. This piece has been in their family for years and was really well taken care of. Somewhere along the way, new handles were put on those two doors. Plain brass handles. It had interesting detail so I overlooked those brass handles. Plus, if you know me, you know knobs and handles are easy fixes. Paint them, replace them... it's not a deal breaker.

We decided to sand down the top of the buffet and finish it in a dark Kona stain. The body of this piece was painted in Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan using 1 part Old Violet, 1 part Pure White & 1 part, Duck Egg Blue and then using Clear and Dark Wax.

Hello new pretty knobs!

This piece is going into a dining room where many Thanksgiving & Christmas meals will be served and enjoyed by a darling family in Phoenix.

The Windsor Buffet

Mr. Windsor was long, heavy and in badly need of some sanding. But this buffet had terrific bones with amazing platter storage and a great serving surface. It just needed some love.

For this makeover, we chose Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan in French Linen and then finished it with a clear wax. We decided to leave the vintage hardware as is and love the contrast effect it as against the gray. This piece really came out looking so soft and buttery, I was tempted to lick it… but I didn’t. In all it’s glory, I present the new and improved, Mr. Windsor…

The McMillan Armoire

Did I mention that I love old 70’s furniture? I do.. I really do. Those pieces are sure solid, well built and heavier than an elephant to carry. And the vintage hardware are larger than life.

When you look at a vintage piece that has an ugly wood grain and lots of details it’s hard to look past it and envision it as anything but 70’s furniture. Back in it’s glory days, this armoire would have been found in a bedroom holding socks, shirts & pants. But take that same chunky piece of furniture and paint it a bright and vibrant color and now you’ve turned it into a statement piece that’s versatile…

say in a foyer to hold your mail, keys, scarfs, or purse.
Or…

in an office or craft room to help you organize all of your office/craftiness supplies.
Or…

... in your family room as a stylish hideaway for your games, movies and video controllers and extra curl up blankets.

Before you give that garage sale find the once over.. pretend it to be a color. Any color. Once you do that, it hyper speeds out of the blah realm and into something out of a current Anthropologie catalog. I used Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan. The formula for this color was two parts Antibes Green and one part Florence, finished with both clear and dark wax.
