The Crest Chairs

A client bought these antique crest chairs for a game table their playroom. You feel noble just sitting in them. :) But, they didn’t match her game table (another transformation project).

These were painted in Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan in Old White. The chairs took to the chalk paint in all the right places. I love the knobby legs and all of the detail these chairs had to offer. I love Annie Sloan for creating such wonderful paint that gives texture to pieces like these.

The Damask Buffet

This was part of a bedroom set but I thought it would look great as a buffet or console. The armoire in this set was transformed differently. You can view it here. I wanted to try something different on this piece. I love Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan in Antibes Green and thought it would be fun to replace that nasty red velvet with pop of green. The exterior was painted in Old White.

The result? This piece went from dark and dreary to light and fun.

The Shrader Mirror

Take a peak at this stunning vintage frame.

I loved all the details this mirror had to offer. Unfortunately, they were hidden in the original brown stain. We brightened up the mirror with Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan in Old White and then we reversed distressed it. Reversed distress it? What's that!? I'm not a fan of distressing using sand paper. It's messy and if you sand too much can actually take the original dark wood color off. When you use ASCP, you can take a damp rag and rub the areas you want distressed. Easy peasy and no mess!

See how the details pop out now?

The Jailbird Mirror

Picture your basic generic square mirror in cherry. You’ve seen a million of them at JoAnn’s, Michaels and Hobby Lobby, etc. This easy project required painters tape and some paint. I chose to do a striped pattern using Chalk Paint® decorative paint byAnnie Sloan in Old White & Graphite. Do you know why it’s easy? Because when you use ascp you can leave the mirror right in the frame and wipe off any spillage with a damp cloth. My kind of project…

Determine the width and number of stripes for your project. Then start by taping the top and the bottom stripe off first. This ensures that you have equal distance on both top and bottom. Then, arrange your tape in the remaining square footage. I eye balled mine. Wasn’t perfectly equal. Again, this is supposed to be quick and easy.

The Shrader Hutch

I found this hutch in a barn. Along, with several other discarded pieces of furniture. There wasn’t anything exceptional about this hutch. But, the bones were good. The glass shelves were in tact and the display lighting still worked. And for a small amount of chump change I brought her home.

She came apart into two sections. I wish I had a nice before picture of her all put together for a nice comparison but, I jumped in to quick and started painting her before I realized I hadn’t take the before shot.

Details:

The outside was refinished in Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan in Old White and the interior was refinished in Coco. It was lightly distressed and then finished with a clear wax. The original hardware and back plates were painted black and the knobs were updated.

The Results:

Annie Sloan’s Coco is a really nice backdrop to highlight white dishes. I’m ecstatic that the new owners thought so too.
