The Blomberg Mirror

Back in the day,  there was a popular interior designer who waved her magical persuasion wand and poofed people into believing that it was stylish to have mirrors attached to dressers. I wonder when that old fad will resurface and rear its little head?

I love it when I find a dresser set that has such a connection. Because in my mind, that gives me two separate projects. Two different pieces to do two different things with. Never to be reunited again...

Mirrors can have such important purposes. They can go just about anywhere in a home.. in a bathroom, in an entry way,  above a fireplace,  layered on top of a piece of furniture, etc. Depending on placement, mirrors can make a room feel larger and brighter.

This mirror came attached to a Dixie dresser. It was large and had straight lines. Because it was so simple looking, I wanted to give it a deep and bold color. I refinished the mirror by layering several colors of  Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan in Aubusson Blue, Duck Egg & Graphite and finished it with a dark wax to give it a Turquoise Patina. I love the way these color came  together.

This mirror found a great resting place and I'm thrilled that the gal that purchased it was in love with the results as much as I was.
